Our mission is to improve the quality of life and economic well-being of all Floridians through the relentless pursuit of better, business-driven public policy.

The Florida Council of 100—the first organization of its kind in the United States—was established in 1961 at the request of Governor Farris Bryant to provide advice on key policy issues from the business community’s perspective. Over the last six decades, the Council has offered insight and background on important policy matters to Florida’s elected leaders and government officials across the political and ideological spectrum.

“My long range objective was to have this group, above political affiliations, come together on a regular basis, look at Florida’s problems, decided what needed to be done—and what they wanted to do—and to do it.”

Governor Farris Bryant

Who We Are

The Florida Council of 100 is an exclusive network of business leaders who work together to enhance the economy and quality of life for all Floridians. The Council engages this network to develop and implement solutions to the state’s biggest challenges.

What We Do

The Council convenes leaders in business, academia, and government to identify challenges facing the state. We establish unique public-private partnerships and apply the time, resources, and knowledge of our leadership to develop and implement solutions.

How We Do It

Convene

The Council convenes our network throughout the year. Our members meet with key public and private sector leaders to understand the challenges facing the state and to identify future opportunities.  They apply this knowledge to guide the policy development and recommendations of the organization.

Research

The Council conducts research through its Foundation in five key areas of focus: economic competitiveness, health, housing, talent, and water.

Execute

The Council leverages its influence to make a difference in the lives of all Floridians. Our members serve on the boards of the state’s leading institutions and have significant influence globally. The Council identifies and capitalizes on these relationships to align resources, promote smart policy solutions, and scale our impact.
