E-commerce, finance and tech related jobs are among South Florida's best bets to attract more high-paying positions in a state with the highest inflation rate in the U.S., a report indicates.

According to the analysis by the Florida Council of 100 more attention should be focused on attracting industries with high-paying jobs that are more resilient to economic downturns than sectors such as tourism and construction.

"Right now we have a huge influx of wealth coming into the state. Citadel is the biggest, shiny example [with its] … 54-story complex in Miami," said Eric Silagy, chairman of the business advocacy group and former CEO of Juno Beach-based Florida Power & Light Co. "We have an opportunity to tap into that migration that is coming out of New York, Boston, Chicago and London."

So far, Florida hasn't truly capitalized on that migration, the report stated.
