Amigos for Kids, co-founded by FC100 member Jorge Plasencia, has been selected as a recipient of the OpenAI Ready Award through the national People-First AI Fund.
Through this funding, Amigos for Kids will responsibly integrate AI tools to enhance bilingual communications, organize program materials, and support lesson development. The organization will also continue incorporating age-appropriate AI literacy into its programming, helping students build digital confidence while maintaining strong, trusted adult guidance.
The award will support the organization’s continued work strengthening families and preventing child abuse across Miami-Dade County. Since 1991, Amigos for Kids has provided after-school programs, summer enrichment, and community initiatives designed to create safe, supportive environments for children.
This recognition highlights how Florida-based nonprofit leadership is embracing innovation to expand opportunity. Jorge’s work with Amigos for Kids advances The Florida Council of 100’s mission to make Florida a better place for all Floridians by strengthening families, supporting education, and preparing the next generation with valuable skills.
